Preserving Kashmir’s Pashmina Legacy Since 1962

A Legacy Woven Over Three Generations

From Ladakh’s Nomads to Kashmir’s Artisans
Founded in 1962 by the Shah family, Kepra.in is a third-generation Pashmina legacy dedicated to preserving Kashmir’s textile heritage. Shahid Shah, our founder, grew up watching his grandfather Late Haji Mohd Amin Shah collaborate with Ladakhi nomadic goat herders to source the finest Cashmere wool, while his father nurtured partnerships with Kashmiri weavers in Srinagar. Today, we bridge these worlds, crafting 100% pure Pashmina shawls that honor centuries-old techniques.

 The Art of Authentic Pashmina
Every Kepra.in shawl begins as raw wool from the Changthangi goats of Ladakh, hand-combed during spring. This ultra-soft undercoat (12–14 microns) is transported to Srinagar, where a community of skilled  artisans washes, spins, and weaves it into luxurious shawls. Women spin the yarn—a tradition passed through generations—while master weavers transform it into heirlooms using Sozni embroidery and Kani weave techniques.

Our Promise: 100% Pure, CDI-Certified Pashmina

 Certifications That Matter
Kepra.in’s shawls are certified by the Craft Development Institute (CDI) and registered with the Jammu & Kashmir Handicraft Department. These certifications ensure:

  • No synthetic blends—only pure Pashmina wool.

  • Ethical wages for Ladakhi herders and Kashmiri artisans.

  • Compliance with eco-friendly, zero-waste practices.

Spotting Genuine Pashmina
We empower buyers with knowledge:

  • Burn Test: Pure Pashmina burns to ash; synthetics melt.

Uplifting Kashmiri Artisans Through Authentic Pashmina by Kepra

 Our Commitment to Traditional Craftsmanship

At Kepra.in, we are committed to uplifting the artisans of Kashmir. Our founder, Shahid Shah, was deeply moved by the struggles of skilled craftsmen who, despite their invaluable contributions to the art of Pashmina weaving, struggle to sustain their livelihoods.

The Challenge of Counterfeit Pashmina Shawls

One of the key reasons behind these struggles is the proliferation of fake, machine-made shawls being sold online under the names "Kashmiri Shawl" and "Pashmina." These counterfeit products undermine the market for genuine, handwoven Pashmina, devaluing the centuries-old tradition and the quality craftsmanship that Kashmiri artisans bring to each piece.

Kepra.in – Preserving Heritage and Authenticity

At Kepra.in, we stand apart by offering only authentic GI-certified Pashmina shawls. Each shawl is meticulously handcrafted in Kashmir, ensuring that every product not only reflects timeless heritage and luxury but also supports the artisans who create them. Our commitment to ethical practices and traditional techniques helps preserve Kashmiri culture and provides a fair livelihood for local craftsmen.
